Conduct driver training and organize knowledge tests

In order to conduct driver training or organize knowledge tests, you need permit from the Swedish Transport Agency.

The Swedish Transport Agency may grant permits to natural or legal persons who, considering their financial and general circumstances, can be approved for providing good education.

Before you can apply

If you or your company, who wants to conduct driving training, is not registered in Sweden or if you are not registered for tax and VAT, you have to contact the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket) and the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). The permit application with the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) requires electronic identification (e-legitimation, BankID or mobile BankID).

Driving school

If you want to operate a driving school, you need a permit from the Swedish Transport Agency.

For example, a driving school must have an approved driving school manager and an approved chief instructor. One or more approved driving instructors may also be employed at the school.

If you want to organize knowledge test for drivers for moped class II, snowmobiles or all-terrain vehicles, you must apply to the Transport Agency.

The Swedish Transport Agency may transfer to natural or legal persons to organize knowledge tests for drivers for moped class II, snowmobiles or all-terrain vehicles, charge fees and issue certificates of approved tests.
