EU agreements
Below you will find information about the Air Services Agreements that the EU and its Member States have entered into, and that are applicable in Sweden.
The EU Commission can get a mandate from the Council to negotiate air services agreements with states outside the EU, Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein. There are two types of agreements that EU and its memberstates can enter into; comprehensive or horizontal. If EU has entered into a comprehensive air service agreement with a state, the member states bilateral agreements with that state are no longer applied. In horizontal agreements, EU agrees with another state regarding certain provisions only. The corresponding provisions in the bilateral agreements are no longer applied when there is a horizontal agreement in place, but the rest of the bilateral agreement is still aplicable.
